I can't believe it's been a whole year since we started out on this venture! we've published over 100 stories from over 60 authors- both online and in print. We try to put at least 10 -12 stories- many times more- in our print edition, and at least 10-14 new stories online each quarter. Many of these are new authors and at least a dozen of our writers are regular contributors whose names and stories we have come to know and respect. Not to mention stories from our own staff!
We would like to thank the following writers for their stories, starting with our regular contributors!
Gustavo Bondoni- A young writer from Argentina who has had stories appearing both online and in print in the same issue. Gustavo has had one story in every issue so far- and he has one in our January online issue and will have one in our April print edition April 2009. He has also been a Featured Author in 2008. Several readers have made mention of his stories in emails to our staff, citing them as a favorite. we agree- this young man is quite talented. His story Crossroad appeared in our premiere issue.
Elliot Richard Dorfman- Another featured author who has had at least one story online or in print in each of ur issues in 2008. He also was our first online vote winner, earning him a contributor copy for his story Perfect for Each Other. Elliot has stories coming up in our 2009 issues as well. Living in New York apparently has been quite inspirational for this writer. Having had quite a lucrative career in teaching, he now shows that he has an equally creative writing style, and many readers have commented on how much they enjoy his stories.
Chad Weiss- Hailing from Canada, Chad has had three stories appear in our magazine, two online and one in print. We hope to see more his work in the future. Whether it's a short story or flash fiction, he can keep you entertained with his varied themes and genres.
Bruce Davis- This writer not only had a story appear in our July issue which we all enjoyed reading- but he took second place in our Freedom writing contest with his story Trojan Horse. Two stories in one print issue- a first for any author! We hope to be able to offer you more from this talented writer in the future.
C.L.Rossman- We've published two stories from this talented female writer, and hope to continue to offer more to our readers. With her stories about a group of space faring hunters, she explores a wide range of adventures and emotions as the hunters travel across strange new worlds. 2009 will give us more of wonderful stories!
Tala Bar- Writing to us from Israel, this multi-lingual author has given us stories about the dangers of a Seance'- and placed second in our Save the Earth Contest- earning her a contributor copy and our appreciation..for her story.
Bill Siderski- Joining Gustavo, he was one of the first authors to appear in our print edition, and has had a story in almost every issue we have put out so far, With stories that vary from science fiction, with his story The Carpet, to mythological fantasy with Beginning of the Ends, he offers quite a reading variety.. We hope to continue to be able to bring more of his writings to both our online and print editions.
Frank Roger- This writer from Belgium joined our online edition with a story that showed us the downside of public transportation when teleporting becomes common place in a futuristic world. He later gave us Back in the Groove, in our March 2008 print issue, showing us that maybe we do have more control over life than we originally believed...at least, some of us do.
Ivy Reisner & John Collins- Ivy was also in our premiere issue with her story Illusions. since then, she has joined forces with cartoon artist and electrician John Collins in providing us with our print superhero- Light Bulb Man. A campy cartoon super hero that fights the dark forces (literally) with his ability to bring light to broken bulbs. Ivy writes the stories and John supplies the rather unusual artwork to keep us cheering for this keeper of the light.
Aurelio Rico Lopez III- All the way from the Philippines, this young writer has given us several witty flash fiction stories- some with a wicked twist. We know that we will always get a quick and fun read when he sends something along.
Fran Jacobs- England has given us many talented writers, and Fran is definitely one of them. She has had two stories appear online, and while both of them have been reprints- they have been amazing stories. 2008 and 2009 have us presenting something from this talented author.
Billy Wong- A young man that keeps the female warrior as the main theme of his stories, he's given us two interesting stories that keep us cheering for the fairer sex. Although rarely providing us with a happy ending, he does pack a lot of adventure into his stories.
Charles McKelvy- He has given us two wonderful stories...Vacant Lot, which was in our Oct. print issue and brought back memories about how things were before we had Star Wars, Star Trek and Star Gate to show us how space travel could be. He showed us that our imagination is the greatest tool that we own.
Joshua Scribner- Joshua has given us two unusual stories- again, 2008 and now in our 2009 online edition. Trust Issues explored our own perception of reality and past lives- and Walking Tooka offers a warning of trust as well....hmmmm stories about cats and dogs- do we have an animal lover in our midst?
Arthur C. Carey- Okay- he also had one in 2008-and one coming up in 2009- but both of them kept us entertained and surprised- which is a bit hard to do to us here at GVM. No one can smile about the IRS, but Carey managed to tell an amusing story about it's power in the not too distant future, where a poor man could not even afford to die...Render Unto Caesar. Not That Kind of Girl is an offering of horror (yes- we've added horror) but with a touch of humor.
That's 15 writers that have had at least 2 stories each appear either online, in print, or both! (most in 2008) Each time we see a familiar name submitting a story, we know that we are in for a treat...even if we don't publish each and every story we get from them, we know that we will be entertained, enlightened, and that most of the time the story is well executed.
Also- we would like to say "Thank you" to the following writers, who also had stories in out 2008 issues: In no particular order we wish to remind you of these talented people:

That's a lot of stories from a lot of different authors, all with their own unique style and flair. Many of the authors listed on the second list already have a story in the que for 2009- so you'll get another chance to read more amazing stories from the minds of these writers....for a limited time only you can get a copy of our past print issues...and if the demand is great enough, we may try to get together a magazine that has the top dozen ( or more)favorite online stories we have featured. So please let us know if this appeals to you! I don't think any of our writers would mind seeing their name in print and getting a copy of that issue....
Tell us what you think....
Would you buy a copy?
Now...if you bothered to read all this, good for you- now go and sign the Guest Book and tell us- would you buy a copy of our selection of online favorites? Why yes? Why no? Sign and put down your email address and mailing address- the first dozen people to sign the guest book and follow all the instructions get their name put in the pot to get a copy of the January print issue!
Just signing doesn't count- you gotta answer the question. Five names will be selected to receive the magazine- so make sure you can follow instructions. And don't tell me I can't count, that there are only 47 names on the bottom list....cuz the top list has 15 names, and of those 15 writers- we have put out more than 36 stories have come from just them....and of the second list- we've had a couple that had two stories in a single online issue...Yup, that's more than 100 stories! And that's not counting the staff stories that appear online- more than a dozen of those online, and at least 6 in print!
If you answer yes, then you'll get a chance to get a copy of the magazine when (and of course, if) it comes out. No point printing something no one wants. (no nasty remarks here- you know you love our magazine!) If we do this type of issue, it will be POD and will be by direct order only! (with the exception of a few special folks who have been invaluable to us here....and of course all the authors chosen will get their copy.....but right now it's just something we are looking at doing.
Keep those great stories coming! Tell all your friends to check us out online- buy a print copy for yourself and for a friend!
You know you want one!
Oh- one more little thing....We like to put a smile on as many faces as we can- in as many ways as we can. We can't make the world better by cleaning the air (although we have offered many suggestions in the past both online and in print, and will continue to do so), and we can't create jobs where the unemployment levels are high, or tell you how to cure some horrible disease or affliction....but we can offer you something to take your mind off your troubles, give you some stories to read to take your mind off of the world's problems (if only briefly) and maybe give a hint or two on how to make things better, one person at a time.
We can do this several ways:
1. As we mentioned- by offering you a variety of stories, both online and in print, to entertain, enlighten, or beguile you for a while. Along with trivia- jokes- and the occasional conservation suggestion, we offer a variety of stories from science fiction, to fantasy to some mild horror and some odd genres that just don't fit anywhere.
2. For you authors, that smile may come when we buy one of your stories (nothing beats the first time you sell a story!)- and while you won't get rich (even if we bought everything you ever wrote)- you don't have to worry about rushing the check to the bank and hope it doesn't bounce (yet). Online authors get paid when their story appears, while those in print receive payment with their free contributor copy. (You can get paid by check, Paypal- or by receiving extra issues in lieu of payment.)
3. And finally- for several of you- a chance to open your mailbox and find one of our really cool print editions with your name on it!
4. Buy a print issue for a friend! Share the wonder-Use Paypal and tell us where to send your print issue!
5. Make a donation of $10.00 or more, and get a free issue.
Keep sending in those great stories....and for those who are daring- try our newest feature- the Crit Claw!
Holmes is going to offer his biting wit to teach you a thing or two about the evils of writing and submitting....This is something that will let you have a new perspective on your story- from the eye (yes, I said eye- singular) of one our our most sinister staff members-
Stories sent here will be subjected to his unscrupulous red ink stained hands- and not one line will be spared! Do you have the guts to submit? Dare you enter your story into this dark and hideous Word Lord's Domain? Can you take the honesty? The harsh reality of his all seeing eye?
Send in your story- see what you're made of! The best and worst may appear online- so don't be shy.....
easywriter4u@yahoo.com may be the solution to your writing problem. If selected, your story will not earn you cash- unless it's surprisingly good....and trust me- he cuts my stories to the bone...yawns and hits the delete button with a sneer...laughs and points out the flaws and failures in my meager attempts. (and he sometimes likes me) Spelling and grammar errors send him into a frenzy....mundane plots send him screaming for more coffee....and poor characterization have made him spit at the person sitting next to him (short straw earns that honor)....
